Sign up by June 14th to qualify for EARLY BIRD PRICING. $550 per skater. Matt Bertani, Matt has a decorated background at every level on the hockey pyramid. As assistant coach at Penn State University from 2005 – 2008, Matt reached the NCAA finals twice. He also achieved the highest points total in Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) history while serving as an assistant coach. During the 2008-09 season, he joined the New York Islanders (NHL) organization as an assistant coach for their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. During his time as assistant coach of the Sound Tigers, he coached the team to a Divisional Semifinal in 2008-09, and a Conference Quarterfinal in 2009-10 and 2011-12. After establishing himself as an assistant coach in professional hockey, Matt was promoted to the NHL as video and assistant coach for the New York Islanders in 2012. He spent six years in the role helping lead the Islanders to a Conference Quarterfinal in both 2012-13 and 2014-15, as well as a Conference Semifinal in 2015-16.Matt has learned from the likes of Doug Weight, Jack Capuano, and many more of the best hockey minds in the world. After his time in the New York Islander organization, Matt gained international experience by taking over the role of assistant coach for the South Korean U18, U20 and National Team from 2018-2020. He led the U20 team to a gold medal and promotion to Division 1A. Matt is the Assistant Director of OverSpeed Hockey in Rhode Island and specializes in skating and development and helps lead the Hockey Coaches Corner.
