Team Information

The Knights Hockey organization is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit entity and the leading sports club at the University of Central Florida. Our mission is to provide UCF students with an opportunity to learn core concepts of life after school as they are related to sport. Some of these include teamwork, responsibility, leadership, commitment and charity. Also, as a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, our members are afforded the chance to compete at the collegiate level against a high level of competition on the ice. The club is headed by 3-4 student officers, who are responsible for leading the rest of the team on the ice and off through our group charity events for organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida and the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as well as team fund raisers that allow us to pay for things like travel, ice time and equipment. The team's coaching staff is comprised wholly of volunteers who  dedicate their time to guiding and mentoring our members through their college experiences.

Head Coach Sean Weaver
Sean Weaver began playing hockey at the age of four in Syracuse, NY.  He played youth hockey up thru high school age.  There, he played Division 1 high school hockey for the Baldwinsville Bees.  Sean went on to play hockey for Broome Community College for 2 seasons, where he received 2 consecutive years of 1st Team All Region.  Sean then transferred to Iowa State University where he played for 3 years, and received 2 successive years of 3rd Team All American.
Coach Weaver began leading the Knights at the University of Central Florida in 1999.  Sean has taken his collegiate playing experience to his Florida team.  Sean works hard each season to maximize each of his player’s talents.  His efforts have transformed this team over the past 13 years to one of Division 3’s most consistent teams.  Weaver has led his team to 8 consecutive National Championship appearances, and placed 3rd in the '07-'08 and '10-'11 seasons.  His passion and dedication for this team motivates each player the opportunity to reach their full potential and strive for greatness.  Building upon the talents that already exist in his players, Weaver gears his team towards being a cohesive family unit.
Sean Weaver won the coach of the year in 2008 for the Southeast Region and also won the ACHA Men’s Division 3 Greg Stathis Coach-of –the-Year Award.

Assistant Coach Geoff Neild

Assistant Coach Ryan Pratt
Ryan Pratt, a former University of Central Florida captain was brought up on hockey as he is originally from Binghamton, NY which holds the AHL affiliate for Ottawa, The Binghamton Senators. Ryan skated as a youth in South Florida during the Florida Panthers boom in the early 90’s. He honed his skills as he led (Assistant Captain) The Coral Springs Coyotes AA travel team to both a state and regional championship in 2001.

During his high school hockey career at North Broward Prep, Ryan (Captain) led the Eagles to the FSHAA state championship in 1999 only to finish 2nd to then powerhouse Flanagan High. By wining multiple MVP awards, fastest skater in the Southeast 01’, endless All-Star nominations and continuously being put in leadership roles Ryan is accustomed to leading by example.

Coach has decided to stay close to his alma-mater as he skated for UCF from 02’-06’ during his college career. His tenure with the Knights consisted of the hustle and work ethic that once again placed him in a leadership role as a captain for UCF.

As a Level 4 USA Hockey coach Ryan looks to bring his highly competitive spirit, knowledge of the game and off ice leadership to the Knights. There is a strong determination to win a National title - SECA.
